Walkin’ the Streets

by Keith Harleson

Christian McPhate

walkin’ on this ol’ road seems to get old

Sometimes just tryin’ to get from one place to another

just won’t ease my mind

tryin’ to get from my house down to the school

just ain’t what it seems to be

but walkin’ the streets of this old town

is just killin’ me

I ain’t tryin’ to be cruel

but I been doin’ this for so long

from my house to the school was just hurtin’ me

I’d like to go down this road

but it ain’t what it seems to be

just walkin’ the streets of this old town

is getting the best of me

I’d like to be getting someplace

Somehow I wish I could have somethin’ to drive

so I can get my way through town

my driver license is going to waste

as it’s plain to see

But walkin’ the streets of this old town

is just killin’ me

I said walkin’ the streets of this old town

is just killin’ me

  1. Wow. Blown away at the simple beauty of these lines. My mind painted a picture of him walking up and down the streets — and his steps were the beat. Keep it up, Keith.
